PURE BLISS MED SPA /  AUGUST 17, 2022 / BODY, COSMETIC

Maintaining or reducing inches within the abdominal area has become very popular over the years in the city of Atlanta and surrounding areas. Various procedures have been created to help achieve it. Many know liposuction and tummy tuck are popular procedures to help with this, but they are very invasive treatments and can cause post-opt issues and concerns. Less invasive treatments, like cool sculpting and radio frequency treatments, have been created to keep the waistline slim. Still, laser lipo and cavitation treatments have become most favorable due to the comfortable process and inexpensive cost. We at Pure Bliss Med Spa, your Premier Medical Spa, offer both treatments to clients in the Sandy Springs and Atlanta area.

What is Laser Lipo and Cavitation

Laser lipo and cavitation are two different non-invasive treatments we have combined to help break down and reduce adipose tissue (also known as fat cells). They both work towards fat reduction in different ways, but we have found that using them together has provided great results. Traditional liposuction requires an invasive process to remove fat from areas such as the abdomen, thighs, neck, and arms. But there’s another way to slim down without undergoing the knife and requiring downtime, laser lipo and cavitation.

Laser Lipo

Laser lipo is one part of the treatment. It is a non-invasive fat-reducing treatment that uses a machine emitting laser energy instead of invasive incisions while still helping slim targeted areas. Laser lipo requires little to no effort and zero downtime. The machine includes laser diode pads placed over the area on the body that the client wants to be slimmer. This treatment is under our experienced Atlanta Aesthetician’s supervision to begin the fat cell breakdown process. This non-invasive process requires multiple sessions to see the desired results.

Cavitation

The other part of the treatment is cavitation, also known as ultrasonic or ultrasound cavitation. Hence the name, this treatment uses ultrasound technology to break down fat cells painlessly. It is a non-surgical approach to reducing cellulite and adipose tissue. This treatment involves applying pressure on the area of unwanted fat cells through ultrasonic vibrations. The right amount of pressure can turn the fat cells broken down into a liquid form, allowing the body to release it through sweat or urine.

How Does Laser Lipo and Cavitation Work?

Laser Lipo

Regarding laser lipo, the idea is not to remove the fat cells. Unlike the traditional liposuction procedure, laser lipo is designed to reduce the size of fat cells. Your appointed laser technician will place the laser pads directly onto the skin during each laser lipo session. The laser pads have diodes that release energy penetrating deep into the subcutaneous layer. This layer of skin is where the fat cells are stored once the energy has penetrated the fat cells. It then creates small openings in their membranes. This allows the fat cells to release the fatty acids, glycerol, and water stored in the body. The fat cells then begin to shrink and result in inches lost. The final step is the body flushing out the released fat cell contents through lymphatic drainage, urination, or perspiration.

Cavitation

Ultrasonic cavitation is done in three parts ultrasound or ultrasonic, radio frequency, and vacuum suction. This part of the treatment helps break down, shrink, and prepare the fat cell contents to expel from the body. Radio frequencies and low-frequency ultrasonic waves help tighten the skin and tone the body. The ultrasonic waves create bubbles in the fat deposits under the skin, bursting and breaking the fat deposits. Once they have broken down, the remains are drained through the lymphatic system.

Laser Lipo vs. Cool Sculpting

With body contouring becoming extremely popularized, the options for devices and treatments have increased. There are various body-contouring treatments to choose from, so deciding which one is best for you and understanding them can be confusing, especially if the names of the treatments are sometimes misused. But the two most popular treatments are Laser Lipo and Coolsculpting. Both are nonsurgical lipo treatments, but they aren’t identical.

Cool Sculpting

Cool sculpting is a popular noninvasive fat reduction treatment involving no anesthesia, needles, or incisions. It works by using a cooling system to break down the subcutaneous layer. The subcutaneous layer of the skin is the third layer of skin where the fat cells are stored. This procedure does destroy the fat cells by freezing them, and then the body absorbs them. The biggest issue many have found with trying cool sculpting is the possibility of gaining more fat cells and retaining lumps and hard nodules of fat from the device’s limited capability to treat the entire area. Many clients will still try laser lip after cool sculpting to target the untreated areas. The comfort of laser lipo and the machine’s ability to try all areas is why most choose and enjoy laser lipo. Laser lipo uses heat and radio frequency to break down unwanted fat cells, leaving you with a smooth, consistent result.

Laser Lipo

As mentioned before, the Laser Lipo device uses laser diodes and is applied directly to the skin, where the laser light is emitted through the pads placed on your body. This laser light shrinks and reduces fat cells. Cool sculpting damages the fat cells and ultimately destroys the targeted but can also leave an inconsistent result and areas left untreated. With Cool sculpting, there is a bit of discomfort with it being a very cold sensation from the machine. Laser Lipo is also a more comfortable treatment similar to a massage, and it is painless.

Outside of a difference in the process of how both treatments are done, another major difference is the cost. The cost of a single session of Laser Lipo is $199. A few things determine the cost of a single session of cool sculpting, including the size of the area being treated, the size of the applicator, and where you receive your procedure. The lowest cost on a single small area is $900. The average cost of multiple areas can range from $2,000-$4,000 per treatment. Larger areas, like the lower abdominal area, require a larger applicator, hence the price difference.

Best Candidate

Laser lipo is not limited to individuals. But to see great results, the best candidates for this treatment aren’t as broad of a pool as traditional liposuction due to it not being catered to extensive weight loss. The Ideal candidates for laser lipo are:

  • Only 15-25 pounds over your ideal weight
  • Focused on losing inches, not pounds
  • In good health and has good dietary habits
  • Has good elasticity within the skin
  • Already active or willing to work out for the best results

What is the Laser Lipo and Cavitation Process Like?

Clients’ most popular question about laser lipo & cavitation is: “does it hurt?” And the answer is absolutely not. It is a very relaxing treatment. First, we begin with the cavitation using three different modalities of the machine– the ultrasound handpiece. Second is the radio frequency, and lastly is the vacuum suction. Each modality requires seven to ten minutes, which is determined by the size of the area and how much there is to work on. Once the cavitation is complete, your laser technician will apply the six laser pads to the area, securing them to a waistband, and the pads will sit on the area for 30 minutes. And that completes the treatment. It is possible to see subtle results immediately after, but multiple treatments are needed for the best results. Below you will find some additional information on frequently asked questions:

  • What is the treatment schedule? Though some clients begin to notice results after only a few sessions, the required amount of treatments is six to eight.
  • How frequent should my treatments be? One to two weekly treatments for four weeks to six are recommended for optimal results.
  • What is the expected downtime? Because laser lipo & cavitation are two noninvasive treatments, no downtime is required.

Each treatment is customized according to the client’s desired results. Each session lasts around 45 minutes to an hour. It takes about four to 12 weeks to see the laser lipo and cavitation results.

What to Expect from Laser Lipo and Cavitation

Although laser lipo and cavitation are result-driven treatments, the results that clients sometimes expectations are unrealistic. Unlike the conventional liposuction procedure, the total amount of inches and fat cell loss are not visible as quickly. This is why multiple treatments are advised to see desired results. It does take time and commitment, but the benefits are always worth it. Normally anywhere from a quart inch to half an inch is lost in each session, but this isn’t always for everyone. For some, it can take up to three treatments to begin to see a difference. How quickly a client can lose inches is determined by their diet choices, metabolism, BMI, and if they work out regularly. Being active is one of the key components to successful treatments and visible results.

How Long Do Laser Lipo and Cavitation Treatments Last?

With laser lipo being a treatment that empties the contents within fat cells instead of destroying them completely, the fat cells can store fat once more. But following the recommended aftercare helps to avoid this. Maintaining a balanced diet and staying active are recommended to keep up your results. Eating lean protein, limiting your carbs, and staying away from alcoholic beverages as well as sugar are advised. Individuals who consume more calories than they burn are more susceptible to gaining the fat back and seeing a decline in their improvement over time. So it is extremely important to follow the aftercare thoroughly.

Which Body Parts Can Benefit from Laser Lipo and Cavitation?

Laser lipo and cavitation are not restrictive treatments. Therefore most areas of the body that store fat can be treated. The most common areas that are treated include:

  • Abdomen
  • Waistline
  • Inner thighs
  • Back of legs
  • Arms
