PDO Threads

PURE BLISS MED SPA / MAY 19, 2022 / BODY, FACE

We at Pure Bliss Med Spa are thrilled to introduce PDO Threads to our clients as a new answer to all of your anti-aging concerns. PDO Threads, also known as a non-surgical facelift, is a great alternative to a surgical facelift. The PDO Threads procedure safely and instantly lifts sagging skin on most body areas with minimal downtime. At Your #1 Premier Atlanta Med Spa, we can help you achieve natural and youthful results with this innovative treatment.

PDO Thread is one of the most effective ways to lift areas of skin laxity on the face, neck, and body without surgery. As we age, the gravity of skin tissue becomes more prevalent and noticeable on our bodies, especially our faces. The elasticity within our skin weakens, and our exterior begins to loosen and sag. The areas most affected are the areas around the eyes, cheeks, eyebrows, and neck, resulting in a more mature appearance.

What Are PDO Thread Lifts?

Polydioxanone (PDO) threads are medical-grade threads made of a synthetic fiber that lifts sagging, loose skin and stimulate new collagen-boosting your natural collagen levels. Studies have shown that PDO threads also relax muscles and tendons while improving the blood flow to the area within the skin, stimulating new collagen production, also known as neocollagenesis. A PDO Thread lift is a non-surgical procedure that helps rejuvenate areas of the body without sedation and with minimal downtime.

Traditionally, most people have looked into facelift procedures to help their loose, unwanted, sagging tissue since there haven’t been very many alternatives and noninvasive treatment options proven effective enough. However, with PDO Threads growing in popularity, it is often used to help contour the face and reposition tissue and skin to lift sagging areas of the face, neck, and body. PDO Threads are a great option for individuals that may want a non-invasive option and individuals who are not yet ready for a surgical facelift.

Types of PDO Thread Lifts

PDO threads are an umbrella treatment that falls into three different categories:

PDO Mono Threads

Also known as smooth threads that stimulate your collagen production to rejuvenate your skin. These threads are absorbed over 3-6 months. Your body creates collagen in the area, which ultimately improves skin texture, tightens the skin, heals and minimizes scarring, smoothing wrinkles and volumizing the area treated.

PDO Cog Threads

Also known as barb threads that latch into your skin, providing lift and support to lose areas of the skin. These threads consist of multidirectional barb material, which causes the threads to fix against tissue with slight tension, allowing the tissue to be lifted and tacked into place. Barb threads are specifically made for lifting. The helixcal barb design towards the end of the thread is (similar to the sticky points of a barb wire fence) and provides great support for repositioning loose tissue.

PDO Screw Threads

These threads are made up of 1 to 2 intertwined threads, and as the body absorbs them, they are especially effective in helping to restore volume in hollowed areas of the skin.

How Do PDO Threads Work?

On the day of your procedure, your practitioner will walk you through the potential complications and advise you about your recovery. The area where you will receive the threads will then be disinfected, and a numbing agent will be applied. Once you are fully anesthetized, a small puncture will be made with a needle, and your practitioner will then insert the PDO threads into place with a cannula. Lastly, the threads will be pulled for tightness, tied off, and then cut. The threads will remain untraceable underneath the skin where they are secured in place. There is no recovery time needed in the office, and you can go home shortly after the procedure.

Benefits of PDO Thread Lifts

The great thing about PDO threads is that it has the perfect pair everyone looks for in a treatment, speedy recovery, and great results. Threads treat skin laxity, create volume, and sculpt facial structures. The results differ for each person, but the benefits remain the same. The benefits of PDO threads include:

  • Stimulation of New Collagen
  • Brightened Skin Tone
  • Lifted Loose Skin
  • Instant Volume Increase

Who is the Best Candidate for PDO Threads?

The best candidate for PDO threads is a client looking to restore shape in their facial structure and reduce unwanted fine lines and sagging skin. A popular look that has been seen on many celebs is “fox eyes.” PDO Threads help achieve a lift and tightening effect of the lateral eye area and eyebrows. It transforms the eyes and brow shape into a more elongated, almond shape, which puts the procedure in high demand.

If you are looking for something that lasts a little longer than Botox and dermal fillers or to enhance the effects of these treatments, then PDO Threads may be for you. If you are also looking for a treatment that gives similar results as a facelift, but you don’t want to undergo surgery, then again, PDO threads is a great noninvasive alternate procedure whose results you’ll fall in love with.

What are the Risks of PDO Threads?

There isn’t a single body-altering procedure without risk. But the level of risk is normally based on the expertise of the practitioner performing the procedure, and our Nurse Practitioner is highly experienced with PDO Threads. However, PDO Threads can cause minor side effects such as swelling, bruising, numbness, tenderness, and sometimes infection if not properly cared for. Your practitioner will review if you are the best candidate and all possible side effects and risks with you.

How Long Do PDO Threads Last?

How long PDO threads last depends on the client’s age and how much sagging is needed to be lifted in the area of concern. Although sagging can return over time, for some clients, results last anywhere from 1 to 2 years. Adding a few additional threads at times suggested by your practitioner to the previously loose areas can help lengthen the longevity of your PDO Threads.
