Preparing for the Poke

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail! If you have never had any injectable treatments before, it can be hard to know what to expect and how to prepare.  These are key things you should be sure to implement prior to treatment.  Pre-procedure instructions are pivotal but not commonly known by first time patients unless the client has done a substantial amount of research. There are a few things you can proactively do before your appointment to make sure your treatment is pleasant and effective.

Avoid blood thinners such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Aleve and fish oil for 1-2 weeks prior or any other blood anti-coagulants before your treatment if possible.  These medications have the possibility of increasing bruising.  We always want to be honest and transparent in all our interactions with clients.  There is always the possibility of bruising with injectables but, with your help and good preparation, it can minimize that chance.

Also it is advised not to indulge in that glass of wine, or two, the night before or after coming to see our wonderful injector. The reason being is alcohol enlarges our blood vessels.  This in turn, can make you more susceptible to bruising, swelling, and bleeding after an injection. It is wise to abstain from alcohol for around 24 hours before and after an injectable treatment.

This tip is for the Nervous Nellies out there to help calm the nerves.  We want you hydrated as well as a full stomach!  Drink plenty of water the day your scheduled for the injections. A common denominator of fainting, is dehydration, and an empty stomach. We strongly advise against coming to your treatment nervous and overwhelmed, jacked up on caffeine, and an empty stomach. Come in fully hydrated with some H20 and a hearty breakfast and we can talk you through the rest.

Perhaps the best advise we can give you in regards to injectable preparation is to be cognizant of your schedule. We do not recommended coming in for injectables 1 week before your big event. This is not going to end well and you will not give the product sufficient time to settle and take it’s true form.  The general rule is to give yourself two weeks before any major event. Be sure to book your appointment with that major life event in mind and put together an appropriate time line for ideal treatment. We want to ensure we give you the best results and you can help do this by scheduling at least two weeks in advance.
