The eyes are the most striking facial feature and dermal fillers are a great non-permanent solution to rejuvenate the under eyes. Tear trough fillers are a cosmetic procedure that instantly adds volume to the skin under the eyes. Under eye fillers will level out the hollowness and camouflage dark shadows. 

Hyaluronic acid fillers are the most common for treating the area under the eyes. At Pure Bliss Med Spa we use fillers with hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid fillers are soft, pliable, as well as being reversible. This is a delicate and complicated area to treat, we recommend using a filler that can be dissolved if needed or requested. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase making it the safest option. Fillers such as Restylane products, Juvederm Vollure & Juvederm Vobella yield safe and effective results. 

Things to consider before getting under eye filler:

Under eye fillers will not fix every under-eye concern. Filler will not help with pigment, it will not change the overall color of the skin under your eyes. In some cases, it may accentuate hyperpigmentation under the eyes. It’s important to differentiate if your dark circles are caused from hollowness and overall facial anatomy or if they are caused by hyperpigmentation in the area. Filler will not help with puffiness, “bags”, or periorbital fat pads under the eye. For these patients, we recommend a surgical procedure such as a blepharoplasty

Under eye filler injections take expertise and precision. Essentially you want to choose an injector who understands the intricate anatomy around the eye. Our nurse practitioner at Pure Bliss Med Spa is very conservative when treating the under-eye area. Overfilling this area can result in unwanted under eye puffiness and discoloration.  

Results are immediate but will improve over 2 weeks as the under-eye area heals and creates collagen around the filler. Swelling, lumps, and bruising are possible but resolve in a few days.   Results last 6-18 months. Factors that affect how long your results will last are lifestyle, metabolism, skin type and skin health.
