What is Kybella Treatment?

Kybella is a non-surgical procedure that comes in the form of an FDA-approved injectable treatment to help dissolve fat cells. In 2015, Kybella was approved by the FDA to be injected in the area between the neck and chin, otherwise known as the submental region. This injectable has helped many achieve goals they didn’t know were possible for reducing stubborn fat under the chin.

There is a special ingredient in Kybella that is responsible for dissolving fat cells — deoxycholic acid. This ingredient is similar to what the human body naturally produces to break down fat. So, when Kybella is applied to an area on the body that has fat cells, it breaks them down — removing them per mantle from the area. Thus, the fat cells will no longer be able to multiply or store any contents.

How Does Kybella Work?

Deoxycholic acid is a bile-like acid responsible for the amazing results Kybella has helped clients receive. The word bile may sound familiar because it is. Bile is a substance the body naturally creates and is a key part of the digestive system to help with dissolving and absorbing dietary fat (fat that is consumed through our diet.) Deoxycholic acid, the key ingredient in Kybella, is a man-made, modified form of bile that helps individuals lose fat in areas that exercise or eating healthy might not. After Kybella is injected, Deoxycholic acid permanently destroys fat cells.

The Difference Between Kybella, Lasers, and Liposuction

Kybella

Kybella has had high success rates with destroying unwanted fat for clients who don’t want to undergo plastic surgery. Healthcare Providers have also seen that Kybella’s chemical composition is what makes this injectable provide such great results. The key ingredients in Kybella help turn the fat cells inside out, making them permanently disappear.

Laser treatments

Laser treatments have been more geared toward assisting clients with skin rejuvenation and tightening loose skin during, or after, weight loss. Fat-reducing laser machines such as Laser Lipo, Cavitation, or CoolSculpting can be effective, but Kybella helps you to achieve results faster and more permanently.

Liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that physically removes fat with a cannula. The cannula is pushed through small incisions in the skin that suction out the unwanted fat. This procedure does provide immediate results but does require more downtime. Kybella is a good option for clients who want similar results as liposuction, but without having to undergo reconstructive surgery or experience longer periods of downtime.

Who is A Perfect Candidate For Kybella?

Kybella is a fairly safe injection overall and is fine to be used on pretty much anyone. But there is a specific list of traits that your injector will look out for before treating you. Here is a list of things that consider a candidate perfect for Kybella:

  • 18 or older and in good health
  • Have an average amount of submental fat in the treated area
  • Does not want to have dermatologic surgery
  • Has tried a diet or exercise to achieve results
  • Not pregnant or nursing

How Many Sessions Do You Need?

Kybella is a great option for eliminating fat that may seem stubborn — such as the so-called double chin — but to see perfect results you can’t expect them immediately. Anywhere from two to four sessions months apart, depending on how much fat is needing to be dissolved, is necessary in order to see good results. Every session is depending on the number of vials used, which can be anywhere from one to four vials. The amount needed comes down to how much fat you want to lose. But your service provider will walk you through what is needed.

What Is The Downtime For Kybella?

Although Kybella treatments come in the form of an injection, they are still considered to be noninvasive. Just like any other treatment dealing with injections, no significant downtime is required. And returning to your normal activities, such as work, after each session is fine to do. But some discomfort after your procedure can be expected for most patients. Some after-effects from Kybella include but are not limited to swelling, bruising, tenderness, and redness can be visible. These all can last up to three to five days depending on how your body heals. But make sure to watch carefully as it does continue to work. Visible results can be seen after three weeks post-treatment.

What Are The Side Effects of Kybella?

It is safe to say that the Kybella injectable is safe for healthcare providers to use and is FDA approved. The only thing service providers advise their clients to watch out for post-procedure is the swelling that follows receiving the injections. The swelling can last anywhere from two to three weeks and some clients experience more swelling than others. When doing a medical procedure that is removing fat cells, slight puffiness can be expected. But it does eventually subside — and when it does the results are wonderful.

What Are Other Areas Kybella Can Treat?

The Kybella phenomenon has gained lots of traction with some healthcare providers. Some practices have found that Kybella injections have not only worked in the area it was first FDA approved for, but in other areas as well. It has been noted that anywhere that has unwanted fat, Kybella has destroyed fat cells. This included areas of loose skin and the areas of the face, tummy, love handles, knees, fat that sits on the hips, and fat that sits on the outer bra (which has gained lots of popularity for women). But before booking an appointment it is always best to ask your potential service provider which areas they service to see if the one you’re most interested in removing fat, they treat.

How Long Do Kybella Procedure Results Last?

Kybella has been known to help with fat loss but to think that it is a magical injection would not be realistic. It can help you reduce the number of fat cells within the injected area but not everyone is guaranteed the same results with permanent loss of fat cells. The fat cells that are left untreated can expand over time only if a proper diet isn’t implemented. Results can last for a very long time only if you live a healthy lifestyle with good eating habits and regular exercise.

How Much Kybella Can You Get?

When it comes to Kybella injections there isn’t a limit to how many can be administered over time, but most clients only need no more than two to four sessions until they’re completely happy with their results. But as a reminder, results vary from person to person so it is always important to consult your service provider to see how many you may need. Kybella injections can be received until the client is happy and feels there is no more fat, meaning for as long as needed. The main concern that clients run into that stops them from receiving Kybella injections is how much it may cost.

How Much Does Kybella Cost?

Kybella prices will vary from office to office. But the cost truly comes down to where you choose to receive your treatment. Here at Pure Bliss, our Kybella injections start at $1200 per treatment on average.

The average session requires two to four vials and at least two to three treatments spaced out. But your provider will be able to discuss with you your treatment plan. Since Kybella is considered more of a cosmetic procedure, insurance won’t be taken to cover the cost. But there are other forms of payment, like care credit that help you finance your treatments.
