Chemical Peels for skin resurfacing… Peel off years of skin damage!

Pure Bliss Med Spa Uncategorized

Do you wish you could just peel aging, damaged skin away?

Chemical peels use a chemical solution to cause deep exfoliation and removal of superficial layers of skin damaged by sun exposure, the environment, aging, acne, and other skin conditions. Chemical peels produce fewer lines and wrinkles, promotes collagen remodeling- increasing collagen, evens skin tone, decreases scars and hyper-pigmentation, reduces sun spots, dark spots, melasma and discoloration. Old skin will flake off to reveal the deeper layers of healthy new bright skin. Chemical Peels are a rejuvenating treatment to smooth skin and improve the overall texture.

The depth of a chemical peel is controlled and different peels range in strength. There are superficial peels that use mild acids to deep peels that penetrate several layers of skin. Depending on the type of peel you receive, you will have a different reaction ranging from mild redness to flaking or you may have an aggressive peel which will result is scaling many layers of the skin. This may last anywhere from three days to 10 days, after which time your skin should be smoother, brighter, and vibrant.

At Pure Bliss Med Spa we use a variety of peels customized for each skin condition and skin care goals:

The Skinceuticals Micropeel for Sensitive Skin is a superficial peel formulated with niacin, lactic acid and usnic acid to gently exfoliate and decongest even the most sensitive skin while maintaining moisture levels. The Micropeel is a great starter peel exfoliating skin without significant sloughing or peeling of skin. It gently improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, dullness, and visible skin imperfections in a series of treatments.

Alpha- Hydroxy Acid (AHA) Peels are superficial/ medium depth peels, the most common are glycolic and lactic. These peels are great for exfoliation and stimulating collagen growth. These peels help with fine lines, minor skin discolorations, acne, and dry patches known as solar keratoses. AHA peels are superb in exfoliating skin while maintaining moisture.

Beta-Hydroxy Acids (BHA) Peels are superficial/medium depth peels great when used on acne vulgaris and comedonal acne. It exfoliates skin and prevents sebum blockage that causes acne formation.

TCA and Jessner Peels are the deepest peels offered at Pure Bliss Med Spa.

Trichloracetic acid (TCA) Peels are considered medium-depth peels, which combines a variety of unique depigmentation agents to target melanin in the skin and reduce hyper-pigmentation. TCA peels reach slightly deeper into the skin than alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) peels and thus often produces stronger results.

Our Advanced Corrective Peel by Skinceuticals and Vitalize Peel by Skin Medica are Jessner Peels, which uses a combination of salicylic, lactic acid, and resorcinol. It is a medium depth peel that is used to treat hyper-pigmentation caused by photo-aging, age spots, acne, melasma and freckles. Jessner peels should not be used on pregnant women or people who are allergic to any of its components.
