If you’re unhappy with the wrinkles on your face caused by repetitive facial expression, Botox may be a great choice for you. Although Botox has been somewhat of a taboo over the years, it has become a very popular treatment over a span of many age groups, various ethnicities, and social classes. Botox is not just for celebrities and models; it’s actually a common treatment sustained by many people you see every day. You would be surprised to know how many individuals within your circle of friends, family, and coworkers actually receive Botox regularly.
The desire to look attractive, age gracefully, and prevent premature lines and wrinkles is natural. If there is a way to look and feel younger, why not? There’s nothing wrong with giving nature a helping hand. Some people see Botox as being invasive, but the truth is the procedure is quickly done quickly, in about five minutes, with minimal to no pain and no downtime.
When should I start Botox?
Whether you are trying to treat the damage already done or prevent future lines and wrinkles from occurring, Botox is a great option for anti-aging. It does not erase lines and wrinkles (and it won’t remove character from your face). It’s more about prevention than treatment, because it works by relaxing the facial muscles and preventing contractions that cause lines and wrinkles.
For example, are you seeing 11s in between your brows when you frown, do you look angry or frustrated often, or are you getting railroad track lines on your forehead, or crow’s feet lines around your eyes? These are all common signs you may want to start considering Botox. Or are you seeing static lines on your face at rest and without even making an expression? At this point you are overdue for Botox. You have missed the preventative phase that would have avoided permanent skin changes, but you can press pause on more changes.
When considering Botox, it’s best to think about what you want your skin to look like five or ten years from now. Do not wait until you have deep lines and wrinkles, because Botox is not a magic eraser or a quick fix. Instead, consider starting Botox when you see facial expressions causing changes to your skin. Lines that become present when the face is at rest.
In other words, the earlier you get Botox, the more preventative it will be.

Botox is not permanent
If you are nervous about receiving Botox, remember the results are temporary. The average duration of Botox is three to four months. Clients who exercise a lot or are very expressive may see results disappear quicker. Everyone’s face and metabolism are different.
People use different amounts of Botox in different areas of the face averaging 10-20 units per area. For the best results do not lie down for three hours, keep your head leveled, and do not exercise for the first 24 hours. We also recommend you do not take ibuprofen, aspirin, aleve or other blood thinning medication, and do not drink alcohol.

Choosing a Botox injector
Find an injector who is aesthetically aligned with your expectations and goals. Do your research, look at reviews, and pay attention to before and after pictures. Learn about the natural aging process of the face and look into basic facial anatomy to ensure you are educated.
This will assist you in making the best decision for what facial treatments align with your skin goals. Prioritize areas of the face you want to target and start there. Consider genetics, look at family members to give you an idea of how you may age. For example, many people generically have prominent forehead lines, frown lines/ or furrows even in their early twenties. While other’s may barely see lines and wrinkles until their forties.
