You’ve seen people rave about Botox®, but how much do you know about the injectable? Here, we separate the myths from the facts.

Are you on the fence about getting cosmetic Botox® injections? Many repeatedly return to their trusted med spa for cosmetic Botox to soften or prevent wrinkles and fine lines.

With over 88% of people feeling satisfied with the results of Botox injections on the forehead or between the brows, and around 84% of people feeling confident with the results of Botox injections for crow’s feet, the high satisfaction rates might be enough to inspire your treatment.

Despite the high rates of satisfaction with Botox results, you may still have questions about the Botox treatment.

Experienced aesthetic nurse practitioner Asha Hill, NP, is happy to separate the myths from the facts. At Pure Bliss Med Spa in Sandy Springs, Georgia, she safely administers Botox injections that give you stunning results for up to six months at a time.

In this article, we’ll dispel some common myths about the cosmetic Botox treatment.

1. Botox will freeze your face

Some people might hesitate to get cosmetic Botox injections because they think Botox will prevent them from making facial expressions.

While Botox works by stopping the activity of specific muscles, expert-injected Botox will freeze only targeted muscles while preserving your ability to smile and frown.

Asha has years of training and experience administering Botox injections and makes sure you can express yourself while enjoying a more youthful appearance.

2. More units equal more effectiveness

Many people assume that getting more units of Botox in a chosen area of the face will lead to better results. It might surprise you to hear this isn’t the case for cosmetic Botox.

If you use Botox injections to treat wrinkles and fine lines, more units won’t make a greater difference. Asha determines the appropriate number of units to inject during your consultation at Pure Bliss Med Spa.

3. Your wrinkles will get worse when you stop getting Botox

Another common myth is that getting Botox will lead to deeper wrinkles once you stop treatment. Wrinkles gradually deepen with age, but it isn’t Botox’s fault.

As the results of Botox fade, wrinkles reappear and look like they did before treatment.

4. Botox injections are too painful to be worth it

The fear of needles and discomfort drives some people away from getting Botox and other elective injectables. If you’ve avoided Botox because of potential pain, we have good news. Botox doesn’t need to be painful.

Asha takes several steps to make your Botox injection experience as comfortable as possible. She:

  • Offers topical anesthesia to numb your skin before treatment
  • Uses ultra-fine needles to inject Botox
  • Refines her injection technique to minimize pain
  • Performs the treatment in a serene, relaxing environment

Altogether, these steps pave the way for a tolerable experience. After your first time, you’ll know what to expect and will feel more confident going in.

5. Botox only treats wrinkles

Botox is more versatile than many people realize. Cosmetic Botox treats common facial lines and creases like crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines, but doctors in other fields frequently use Botox too.

Botox can also treat:

  • Excessive sweating
  • Chronic migraine
  • Neck and back pain
  • Jaw pain and tension
  • Eyelid spasms
  • Ongoing muscle contractions (dystonia)

Beyond crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines, some injectors use cosmetic Botox to reduce the appearance of neck bands.
